OKAY LISTEN UP PEOPLE I WANT TO WATCH THIS SHOW (Fuddlemiff and Tomtrek and others maybe!)
Episode one is on tv in AMERICA tonight. Episode two is on tomorrow (Tuesday.) Then it's on Tuesdays every week after that.
Episode one had a "digital premier" a while ago (as Cassie posted above only in the US) so if there isn't a new torrent tomorrow just look back a month. But there probably will be a new torrent.
They really went all out on the zero gravity effects, like there was a scene where a woman got two drops of water out of a water thingy and they floated in the air she caught them and put them in her mouth (she was thirsty!). It just looked so realistic. The only thing that didn't look real was a little bird on Ceres, but I'm thinking they made the bird look not-normal on purpose because there is a lot less gravity on Ceres than Earth.
ANYWAY, based on the premiere this is totally our kind of science fiction show. AND ALSO SPACE SEX.
Yeah, I caught the pilot episode a few weeks back. Very impressive. Not the typical SyFy BS they're producing these days. Visually it reminds me of a mixture of BSG and Firefly, so that's good. I should probably get around to reading the books one of these days, but for now I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
Ooooh, this is really good to hear. I've been trying not to get my hopes up too much so far because SyFy is so hit and miss (well... Mostly miss). Will download as soon as I get home tomorrow.
The special effects were SO GOOD. That shot showing the whole layout of Cerses station. All the spaceship stuff. So good. And the attention to scientific detail! I want to read some blogs about the scientific accuracy now!
Having three different unrelated locations could have made it hard for people to get into, butI think MODERN TV AUDIENCES are patient and realise things will come together in the end. I think the Canterbury stuff was done the best. Of course I've read the books so I knew what was going on (thoug there were bits I didn't remember.) The Belter lingo near the start was hard to make out but I think it did the job of showing how Belter culture differs from Earth, maybe.
I thought Jonathan Banks would be in it more than one scene with space madness.
I really like how they are showing what happens to people who live their whole lives in low gravity. At first I didn't get what was going on when they were torturing that one guy, then I was OH... being underwater would be even more pressure on him. I thought they were going to waterboard him or something.
Hat guy is Detective Miller. I'm not keen on the actor they've chosen, as he's a bit too good looking and charming, whereas I always saw the character as gruff and a bit frumpy. Like a guy who's got divorced and given up trying to find a new relationship.
ANYWAY, I really liked it. The effects and sets helped a lot, as not that much happened in the first episode. Most of the main characters didn't even seem to get namechecked and I only figured out who some were after they'd been onscreen for ages. I guess they'll get around to it.
I don't remember the Breaking Bad guy's character, but it looks like he died on the Canterbury?
Avasarala's great. I don't think she was in the first book, but who cares. I hope she gets to swear. Married to Dr Bashir's dad!
"There's something you should know" is the only way women are able to tell people they're pregnant according to tv?
The second episode was good too, although maybe too much stuff with everyone on the shuttle at odds with each other when we don't really know the characters yet or whose side we're supposed to be on. The ending was very Star Wars.
CASSIE, apparently episodes 3 and 4 are available ON DEMAND in America, whatever that means. There's already torrents of them. Are you able to watch them and will you watch them? I'll watch them if you do. I'm watching this at Cassie Pace.
Up through ep 4 now, still very impressed. The second episode felt pretty cliched, another take on stuff we've all seen before, but the background political stuff was still interesting.
I'm finding I'm able to follow it better now even though I haven't read the books or any spoilers and don't really know what to expect plot-wise. I'll reserve commentary on episodes 3 and 4 until others have seen them.
3 was better than 2 as it the conflict was explained a bit better. Took me a while to recognise Lane from Mad Men! He called out Miller on his ridiculous hat.
4 was great, I thought! The spaceship escape scene at the end was really awesome. And the doctor guy getting his head knocked off.
Even though I've read the books I have no idea what's gong on with Miller looking at guys from the Tinder app that are dead but also one was in space but then he died?
