The day of hurricane Milton, and after all the preparations had been made, I was sitting on the front porch watching a hummingbird feeding on some flowers. I wondered how it would survive the storm. Around 7pm or so it was time to stay inside and ride out the storm. The next morning, after walking around to survey the damage, I sat back down on the porch, and there was the hummingbird. I immediately went inside and searched for a hummingbird feeder, washed it, and made some sugar water to fill it with. Every time we have bad weather I hope to see it again. It's like a sign that everything will be alright.
I do not know where I am going with this story. We've just had a record breaking winter storm. The wind chill was below freezing and the skies are grey. The hummingbird is zipping around the feeder.
