The Mine Field Top 50 Trek Actors (2013)

Eggs Mayonnaise

All In With The Nuts
This list is more about the actor's work than how much we liked the character. Who were the best actors in Trek?

List your Top 10 actors from TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT. We'll leave movies and TAS out of it. Use regular actors from the opening credits, or recurring actors who appeared in several Trek episodes. (NOTE: This means that if there was an actor who appeared in several episodes but as different characters, he/she would be listed once for their body of work. Again, it's more about the actor than the character.)

Once there are a decent number of lists (and we've begged everyone we know to add one), we will tally up the results and come up with a definitive list. And then our lives will be complete.

I make no apologies for not including Patrick Stewart since everyone else's votes will probably put him in first place anyway.
But is that the only reason you didn't include him, or do you honestly feel he's not Top 10? (Which is fine of course, I'm just wondering)

39. Alexander Siddig (Bashir)
40. Robert Duncan McNeill (Paris)

Actually I wanted to stop at 37, but I hate the idea of stopping at 37.

These are my FAVOURITE Trek actors, which by it's nature I consider the best.

I am also doing some Wacky style comment

1. DeForest Kelly - Good anger, Good humour and a rye smile as well...
2. Andrew Robinson - Oscar Wilde / James Bond love child
3. Leonard Nimoy - Without him, Trek would not exist
4. Nicole De Boer - ahem, controversial... purely on acting ability...
5. Jeffrey Combs - bastard offspring of Cruella De Ville
6. Kate Mulgrew - THE BUN, THE BUN!
7. Zachary Quinto - A worthy successor
8. William Shatner - No list is complete without him
9. Armin Shimerman - Underrated IMO, never liked his storylines but always watched
10. Patrick Stewart - SHAKESPEARE DARLING

Really hoping I will spark some TREK RAGE by including alternate universe.

But is that the only reason you didn't include him, or do you honestly feel he's not Top 10? (Which is fine of course, I'm just wondering)

Yes, he certainly belongs up there, but he is up there already, if we are truely after 50 actors, we need variety, not the same people in slightly different positions.

Plus is practically a good actor by default, a lot of the ones on my list had to work harder to produce quality.

11 Dwight Schultz (Barclay) Should have been a regular, plans were afoot, but some of the other regulars vetoed it, allegedly.
12 Marc Alaimo (Dukat), got to play the villian, then the anti hero, then the hero, then an even eviler villian, which was nice.
13 Avery Brooks (Sisko), the angriest nostrils in hollywood, only really seemed to come alive when he shaved his head.
14 Robert O'Reilly (Gowron), the angriest eyes in hollywood
15 J._G._Hertzler (Martok.), did some good eyepatch acting before it became trendy.
16 William Campbell (Trellane and Koloth) Mad as a box of frogs
17 Michael Ansara (Kang) I was so happy when DS9 brought back the three original Klingons, and he even managed to appear on Voyager!
18 John Colicos (Kor) A magnificent klingon, and the original Baltar.
19 Tony Todd (Elder Jake/Kurn/Alpha Hirogen) Although it seems I am following my klingon trend, it was his turn as the elder Jake who had wasted his entire life trying to bring back a dead father that really resonated with me.
20 Jeri Ryan (7 of 9) when the camera wasnt focusing on her tits, she did some good face acting.

Should we MAYBE set a limit on twenty so that it's easier for the person who's totalling up the scores (whoever THAT might be)?

Also let's never close the thread until Menty and Gagh vote.

Twenty sounds good for now, we might end up with 50 different actors that way, unless we have a lot of crossover on lists, which potentially we will have, so we might end up having to add some more just to fill all the slots.

I am an old Star Trek fan, so here is my list

Patrick Stewart
Leonard Nimoy
William Shatner
Brent Spiner
Marina Sirtis
Wil Wheaton (omg did I just break a rule-why is he on no one's list yet?!) ( I really don't know how the acting was)

I feel I have failed. Don't judge!
