While looking for clips to share in Menty's movie thread, I started coming across some public service announcements that weren't normal, if you can describe any PSA as normal. But most PSAs are boring or an irritant.

These are well either odd, strange or otherwise IMO, enough for me to go looking for more and start a series of threads because I don't think it can be contained in one.

The first one I came across was Pee Wee and well, here:

I watched this days ago and am still trying to decide whether this is really really strange or really really awesome.

I read up of Rueben's entry on wiki and apparently, this was a part of his community service for 1991 arrest for indecent exposure.

Reubens' attorneys agreed to the offered plea with Reubens pleading no contest, while maintaining his innocence, so as to avoid what would have been a highly publicized trial. The plea kept the charge off Reubens' record, and had his pledge to spend at least 75 hours doing community service, making an anti-drug public service announcement that he would write, produce and finance.

I think he may have done this anyway. According to the same wiki entry, during the mid 80's he did his best to form Pee Wee into a good role model.

Reubens had not always thought of his character as one for children, but sometime during the mid-1980s, he started forming Pee-wee into the best role model he possibly could, making of his show a morally positive show that cared about issues like racial diversity.[22] Reubens was also careful on what should be associated to Pee-wee. Being a heavy smoker, he went to great lengths never to be photographed with a cigarette in his mouth, he even refused to endorse candy bars and other kinds of junk food, while trying to come out with his own sugar-free cereal "Ralston Purina Pee-wee Chow cereal", a project that died after a blind test.[10]

It kinda fits, I think the only thing he ever did wrong was to be addicted to porn. He was arrested in 2002 on kiddy porn charges but they were dropped in 2004 and his supplier stated he always bought in bulk and there was no way anyone could have known that underaged teen models were amongst the piles of magazines.

The whole entry explains it, IMO, he's seemingly a porn addict and was one before there was an Interents to hide it on.
