The Mummy movies are well made - good cinematography and excellent special effects that show what good CGI should look like. The storylines are a little bit predictable but are a fun ride. Rick O'Connell is a yummy action figure with buffoonish, zingerish dialogue that Frazer is quite adept at delivering.

I thought I was going to be disappointed that a new actress played the part of Evelyn in this installment. However, the writers handled that quite deftly near the beginning. The new actress, while in character, quite bluntly states that she is not the previous person, then she carried on the part as if she'd always played it. Well done.

Jet Li, as always, is fun to watch but the nice surprise in this movie for me was Michelle Yeoh. I always enjoy seeing her and did not know before going that she is one of the major players in this film.

I was a little disappointed because I loved the first two movies and there is plenty of material left in things Egyptian to keep the O'Connell tomb raiding stories going for a long time. However, it would be hard to get Yetis, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in a plausible ancient Egyptian storyline so the Chinese one is okay.
 
That is a difficult answer. Both movies have received mixed reviews. I think it depends on if you are a fan of the story as to whether you will like either movie. I bored of the X-Files early in its TV run and the last movie didn't do much for me. Plus, I find David Duchovny disgusting as a real person.

Having said that, when you get ready to go to the movies, consider what kind of movie you are really in the mood for - action and adventure or drama. Then consider which one of those movies is likely to be in the theater for another week.

I'm going to see Dark Knight Thursday afternoon. This weekend I'm going to see Journey to the Center of the Earth for some more of Brendan Frazer. I can wait for X-files when it is on free TV.
 
I liked it. Decent special effects, plenty of laughs, and all the family you'd expect with their kid growd up and being rebeliious.

My only complaint is it was a bit short. I was expecting a bit more, but all in all, great fun!
 
Mummy was fun. I would have liked a little more story and just a little less action. Still, you pays yer money you takes yer ride.

To me X-Files: I Want to Believe = extended television episode.

They didn't do what I wanted them to do with the characters. Also, they had pretty much had enough closure with the first X-Files movie to make the series end neatly. This one was a dangling participle.
 
Yeah, but it has Seth Rogen. It also features James Franco as a stoner. It should be interesting.

There's a clip that was released a while ago featuring Franco trying to light a "cross joint" and that he needed Seth's help. It seemed as if they were taking the parts seriously and had a really good time.
 
I didn't like the first Mummy movie, so even though the preview looked good I am reluctant to go see this one. I have no interest in the X-Files. Or Pineapple Express.

I think the next movie I go see will be the new Star Wars movie.

On the home front, two nights ago we watched Newsies and Transformers (1986).
 
No Greg, I like to date my wife is all. I've seen Pretty Woman, which I could care less about over 30 times, for example.

Women are fun. It's fun to indulge them and make them happy.
 
I was kidding. I realize that all men are slaves to their wives wishes if they want to get teh nookie.
 
It makes all those girl movies more enjoyable if you're recieving the hand job while it's playing.
