The new Magnum PI

Surprisingly good, anyone else catch it?

Haven't seen a single episode, and probably won't.

I saw 1 episode. A bit like nuHawaii 5-O--stylish and slick, but the story was very sloppy with some huge holes in it. But it does capture a lot of the feel of the old series.

Does Magnum have a giant mustache?

No. In the episode I watched, there was a flashback to him leaving the SEALs or whatever, where he's shaving off his giant Afghanistan special forces beard and he looks at the moustache in the mirror for a second or two before shaving it off.

Is Higgins now an overly Gay foppish English manservant?

Higgins is Perdita Weeks (a girl) who I liked in Penny Dreadful.

But I watch too many shows to add a Magnum PI reboot.

Yeah me too. Though if Magnum had a moustache and Higgins was a dude I might try and squeeze it. somehow.

Yes men with moustaches are much preferable to attractive women.

Not fucking around with my childhood shows would be preferable as well. The original Magnum had attractive ladies and moustached men.

...and he could take a telephone call from a disconnected handset for a cord phone while standing in the ocean.

Not fucking around with my childhood shows would be preferable as well.

That's simply Not An Option. When this generation grows up, the only Magnum P.I. they've ever known simply must be a henpecked metro.

It's too bad all those time travellers are going back and erasing your memories of tv shows rather than killing Hitler.

Well thankfully, I have Deadpool for Hitler killing.

Of course if they killed Hitler they'd create an alternate timeline where none of those shows ever existed anyway.

I also liked the second episode.

I watched the first episode because I was tired and lying down on the couch and didn't want to move and it's easy to watch things on demand these days. It wasn't bad. It was funny how he had three friends in the pre-credits scene but only two were in the opening credits and I thought "something bad's going to happen to the bald guy" then he died right away. It was perfectly fine undemanding tv but I won't go out of my way to watch any more if I have other stuff to watch.
