The New York Gate Keeper

Eggs, perhaps you can tell me if this urban legend is true or not.

I have heard this story about a gate keeper in a large park in New York that collected $1 per person from the park, until one day when he didn't show up and everyone called asking where the nice man at the gate had gone......and the city said there was no one working or employed to collect money at the gate.


I have looked it up and cannot find it.

I haven't heard that particular legend before, but I would believe that it happens at least once a week.

I would love to find the story Cassie. At Eggs, according to legend he did it for years. People brought him gifts during the holidays and he picked up garbage occasionsly. Ya gotta be legit I guess.
