The reason for my stress today

Mirah

I love you
I was getting ready to put my kayak in the water when I saw this girl walk very slowly to the end of the dock. I swam for a minute before getting in my kayak and i watched her stop at the end of the dock and just look around and then she did some stretches. "Okay, she is about to do some yoga then. That is why she was walking so slow and intentionally"
By the time I got into my kayak she had walked by and we said hello to each other and she said, "Have a good kayak" I said thank you.
I could see her walking on the trail as I was on the lake and her walking was so slow I couldn't figure out if she was super depressed or just walking intentionally/meditating.
Then she sat on a bench for a while and eventually got up and walked away. I couldn't see her after that.
Yes I know people can be sad and walk around a park, whatever. But it bothered me that she looked like a girl in the community who had commited suicide not last year but the year prior.
I just wanted to go make sure she was okay.

No you can't. But it's good that you still care enough to want to sometimes. Humanity is a lost art.

I envy people who lead the kind of lives and live in the kinds of places where they can kayak as a daily practice. I've been too urban in my life. Fresh air and quiet is the exception more than the rule. QPLAH

I have to shlep a little, but I can get to kayaking anytime I like. I do lots of "fishing" (with a nice glass of red) and its beautiful in the middle of wherever we are.

Being able to kayak saved me last summer. I was gifted it and I am so so grateful.

I agree. I absolutely LOVE my kayak. Wasnt a gift, but one of the first major "possessions" I got for myself

That looks cool. I couldn't figure out that space behind the seat at first-but I looked it up-they break apart for easy transport. Thats nice. I haul mine on top of my vehicle and have gotten pretty good at hoisting it up there. The most difficult is dealing with the straps and when it is slippery wet! Yeah, I went there.

Mine is a fishing kayak.

I was going to use this thread to talk about my anxiety but looking at my kayak pics calmed me down.

Last August was fire and smoke free for the most part until Labor day weekend when everything blew up and the whole state was filled with smoke and fires. I was almost more anxious w/ no fires and in almost a calm state now that we have fires again. It is wierd. But that only lasted for a few moments. With each new fire start I take a deep breath. Communites around me are evacuating. It makes me sad for them.

@Neon, yeah I was going to kayak last Saturday and the smoke was unpleasant, so I waited for a clear day-yesterday and I'm glad I did because today is smokey again. And I go earlier in the day because it can actually feel too hot on the water even-especially if I can't get into the shade.

Thats a nice kayak, Mirah. Mine is a fishing/sea kayak also. It can be a solo or a two seater and it has pedals to steer the rudder. I love to paddle out in the middle of wherever I am and just sit there, sucking up the prana. A glass of wine and/or a bowl is also nice.

At least your humidity isn't brutal. I've learned not to taunt karma, so after moving from Portland to Louisville and being told people couldn't move there because it was too hot, I was sorely tempted to gloat when it was under 90 here and, like a thousand degrees in Oregon. But then I looked at the humidity. 17%. I can't even conceive of what 17% humidity feels like. Under 65% is good here. A really dry day might get down to 28%. But it will be 95 degrees. It the temp is below 70, the humidity will usually be above 70. At least in the summer.

I was just out in Bellingham Washington for a week. Puget Sound area. Been country hopping with my new truck visiting my scattered family. Week before in South Carolina.

Heat broke 100 last thursday and after that the haze from the smoke came in. Never experienced weather like that before. The sun looked like and angry red ball and all you could see was haze.

We stayed in and played cards and watched RAGNAROK on netflix.

Vacationing is fun, but there's no place like home.

The smoke pictures are pretty, but also depressing.

We have an active fire right now on the lake and several in the area and state. I mean not to mention that the whole west coast is on fire anyway.

This one started on Sunday from someone out shooting a bear or target shooting. Stupid fucking idiots. One home lost already. With only one road out of some of these places most are on evac notice or evacuated.
