Is this real life?
None of that "aaaaaah, aren't humans amaaaazin'?" crap.
No farting aliens.
Interesting, believable characters.
Actual character development.
Two part episodes (which together make a full hour).
Moral analogies aren't shoved in your face.
Clyde.
Proper investigating and figuring out problems, not JUST using the sonic lipstick.
The main characters rarely get innocent bystanders killed.
None of that sly gay rights bollocks.
People don't leave the show every five minutes, only to make an "emotional return" so long later that you've forgotten why you were sad they left.
Surprisingly good guest stars.
No Catherine Tate.
The entire plot of each episode is not revealed a week before on the front cover of the Radio Times.
 
I've been watching the last few weeks, it's pretty good. Rani is fit (come on, you knew I'd say that.)
 
I thought you'd say it, but then add "big nose, though". Better than Maria anyway.

More reasons:

It's not overhyped, so episodes being good is pleasing rather than "phew, what a relief, it wasn't shit this week!" a la Who.
I don't think there have actually been any shit episodes.
Reminiscent of the good old BBC kids dramas such as The Demon Headmaster and Aquila.
They don't bump into historical figures.
 
Rani's mum was in The Thin Blue Line.
 
It's because Elizabeth Sladen actually has the acting skills to carry a show. Unlike, say, John Barrowman.

And it's really nice that they each have a cliffhanger, and some are really good ones, too (like the end of The Lost Boy, Part One from last year).

And Rani is hot (but she's 18 so it's ok!!).

And, of course, we'll soon be seeing:

The Brigadiar. Fuck yes.
 
Sladen's pretty good, but the one who plays Luke is awful, with his constant eyebrow wiggling.
 
The kids who play Luke and Clyde ran past me on some stairs once (true story).
 
I watched a few episodes and liked it very much. They put it on at 7pm Fridays though, and that is too early, then the rerun is at 12am and that is too late!
 
If only there was some way to record them and watch them at a more convenient time!

Although they did have the "LOL FAT PEOPLE FARTING!!!!!" Slitheen in the first episodes, they at least gave them new skin-suits when they came back, meaning they could look like thin people and not fart. Which is more than Doctor Who ever did.

Clyde is actually quite good looking.

The BBC3 episode was a really good conclusion. I do love a good apocalypse.
