The Shelter threads - Cherry on top, or final nail?

I just wanna see if they mention me. Last time I got mentioned in them, I think, was when O2C said he'd never support the idea of me being a mod.

Yeah, I love how they claim openness, but Eliteforge gets to decide what the unwashed masses are allowed to see.

Sadly, the sycophants will hail this openness when the eventual release of "I like cheese" threads from A51 comes. They are seriously jerfking off the membership.
 
What's its purpose, anyway? For mods to ask each other for advice? I think it places an unfair burden on them. You know when one staff member gets rubbed the wrong way and calls someone an idiot to another mod and mod 2 agrees, it's in bad taste to have that released. But it's impossible to avoid. The only changes made to the releases should be the ***ing of PI. Bang zoom, release and move on.

This completely destroys the notion of accountability and transparency. It should be made read-only to the public, or removed entirely.
 
Well I would never make a policy of releasing mod only threads to the public, I think mods need a place to speak freely.

However...

Once you make a policy of complete openness, you should not be allowed to cherry pick what you release and what you don't (minus personal info of course)
 
Well they strip out RL info and IP stuff and such.

That's not exactly "hiding", now is it? It's protecting everyone.
 
On topic - I doubt there'll be a lot of incriminating stuff coming out of there. If at all, it'll be the next time they release threads - some time after christmas, I assume.
 
Well the staff have been passing the buck along and saying they have told Elwood that they need to be released.

And I'm sure we never actually see all of the shelter releases. And not just the stuff that has personal information. But probably where they gossip about other posters.

I found evidence that this person had shared information they shouldn't have. Now many of you will undoubtedly think is a small thing, as the Shelter has releases. But it is also well known some things are not released, including[?] personal information.

Oh, I dunno. Although I think lately there has been some errors of judgement, unwise decisions and piss-poor PR from some WF staff, I honestly don't think they all believe the hype that they're the elite, and consequently bitch about the fawning dependants on the outside of A51.

You know, I never thought of "EliteForge" as the mods.

When I thought of EliteForge, I thought of: Elwood, Evenflow, Tamar, Storm, etc, etc.

The ones who all seem so close and friendly with each other, ncluding the owner and the "former" second in command.

But what do I know? Everyone has a different opinion on who "eliteforge" is.
 
Not all the mods are bad, Clyde, MrsA., and the lurker are good ones. But some of them have been there too long and forgot what it's like to just be a regular poster.

Wanting WF to be a better board seems to be a crime in the eyes of a few. But I'm done with it. I'm still looking for another home board, but I'm going to hang out here for a while.

I suppose we all have our own ideas of what is good and what is bad too.

I think Lanzman has been pretty good. Never ever gets involved in board politics, never ever seems to get emotional or one sided. But to someone else he may have seemed inactive, I dunno.

I completely recant my objections and commend him for his skills as an administrator. He has grown a great deal since before I left, and I see that now. If he were to buy the board, I would support that decision. Enthusiastically. He'd probably do a better job than I would; I quit, he still puts in far too much time into this place for all the shit we give him.

I overreacted. Everyone did. What was between myself, him, and Elwood suddenly became everyone's business (but don't blame me on that one) and I said things that I no longer view as true or fair.

Let it never be said that Christopher does not eat crow.

I make my apology in the form of booze, strippers, and gambling, and hopefully he'll accept. As for the rest of you, I don't really care.

But I'm sorry, Nick.
