The first time I heard this saying it pissed me off. I think this statement is true except in matters such as child abuse, violent crime, natural disasters, diseases.
I agree with the argument to stop being a "victim" in your life. Stop with the poor me mentality. Stop playing the victim role. I think everyone "gets" to do this once in thier life-after that get over it.
The rest is all choices.
Yes shit happens to us-but srsly we learn to move on as human beings and dont' let the bad shit keep us down.
We have a decsion.
