Reports: Mets All-Star David Wright Engaged To Girlfriend

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – There are no doubt plenty of depressed Mets fans out there – and it’s only January.

That’s because the face of the organization and fan favorite David Wright reportedly became engaged over the holidays.

ESPNNewYork first reported news of the engagement.

The all-star third baseman has been dating model Molly Beers for several years. Their relationship went public when Wright threw her a surprise birthday party over the 2008 All-Star break.

Beers was also seen with Wright at the winter meetings news conference, where his eight-year, $138 million contract was announced.

Since making his major league debut with the Mets in 2004, Wright has been a fan favorite. ‘Future Mrs. David Wright’ shirts have been popular among the female fan base.

With his new contract extension, Wright, who recently turned 30, will continue to be the face of the organization.
