He lay on his bed. He lay on the floor. He lay under his bed. It felt perfectly natural. Later, when looking back, he realised this was an act of insanity. But it made sense at the time.
He stayed under his bed for twelve hours. The cat came to see him. It look concerned. He told the cat he loved her. It licked him. Aww. The cat left.
He needed the toilet but he held it in. He could do that. He could disassociate his mind from his body. Easy. It was a useful skill. He would be good if he was being tortued. Muslims could cut his balls off and he'd never tell them the launch codes for the missiles. No sir!
Unfortunately he found it hard to re-associate his mind with his body. He'd stopped trying long ago. Now only the numbness remained. Sometimes he tried to get back to feeling alive, but he coudln't put up with it alone. He needed the numbness. Like Garak in that DS9 episode!
The Wire, that's what it was called. He had it on DVD. He decided to watch it. That's why he got out from under his bed. Not because he knew it was time to "grow up" and live a "normal" life. That was never an option, no matter what anyone said. No, it was to watch Star Trek on DVD. That was all.
He went to the toilet first.
