As far as unattended installer pirate copies of XP go, I think I've found one that I like.

The Windows folder is around 240MB, Xp uses 60MB of RAM after boot... everything just runs faster and smoother.

Y'all've heard me bitching about Xp... registry cleanup sucks, too many service start at startup (that you basically don't need), etc... this little Xp is pretty sweet for those complaints. I've seen boot time reduced to approx. 60 seconds (down from 2 min) on my PIII 700MHz, shut down takes 20 seconds tops (down from 2 min) and it just seems like a good, basic system.

Although I haven't loaded office onto it yet, everything else I've installed has run well and I'm glad I downloaded.

Does anyone have any experience with those huge DVD based unattended installers with the shit-ton of applications pre-installed?

You mean for burning DVDs? I'm talking about WindowsXP on a bootable DVD that will install XP onto a blank hard drive as well as the aformentioned shit-ton of applications automatically. Is that whatcher talkin' 'bout?

I didn't think you could run Office on it. It doesn't even come with wordpad.

I would of liked a middle ground version. This one is missing just a few too many useful features to make it viable for me personally. Still neat though.

You know I think it does come with Wordpad... and there was a big stink in the comment thread about how he added office support back in... tell you what, I'll give it a go and report back.

Yup! Office installed nicely... As long as it keeps working I think I'll actually like this version of windows... like it a great deal.

I have this on a CD somewhere, and I've wanted to stick it on one of my older pcs for a while... I just havn't had time, and I havn't been home... I guess I'll do it this easter... :D

One quick note to make:

You cannot install Internet Explorer in TinyXp. The support files for that browser aren't installed in the system... I found that out the hard way when I tried to do some research for work that required Explorer.

Ho hum.
