Tired of wearing my glasses

this isn't an interesting thread, the title says it all really. i just feel like bitching somewhere.

i fell asleep with my contacts in for about five minutes yesterday.. never a good idea. my eyes became really sore and now i'll have to wait for my eyes to return to normal before wearing contacts again. but my glasses are an old prescription and i can't fucking see properly.. i feel like im in a cocoon not being able to interact with the world. and i have a headache. ggrrar

I should wear glasses for VDU use & the Telly, but I never do. They annoy me, and I won't use contacts because I can't bear the thought of anything touching my eyes.

I should have worn glasses a lot earlier in life, it accelerated the degeneration of my eyesight by not wearing them.

I wear them all the time now, and hardly notice they are there, appart from when they slip down in hot weather.

I wouldnt even think about contacts for the same reason as Gagh.

I think I'll give laser eye surgery another five years or so to see if it has any long term side effects, then look into it.

never got used to them.
have several friends who have done the laser eye surgery and are happy, but I'm with you - gonna wait a few more years. TIL ALL IS REVEALED.
- and plus, the thought of lasers burning away at my eys just doesnt have a whole lot of appeal for some reason.

I do too. And I get my eyes checked regularly. I am sure I will end up with glasses like the rest of my family who often get mad at me.

When I first got contact lenses I hated the idea of having to touch my eyes, but it's actually not that bad. I could touch my eyes all day long now(if it wasn't unhealthy and I had a reason to). Glasses are annoying, though. They steam up, get raindrops and grease on them and they slip down my nose if I look down too much.

I had my corneas reshaped with a "laser". It's wonderful. Although I've probably spent enough time reading and staring at computers to have wrecked the 20/15 vision I initially had.

I remember reading that people who have laser treatment still end up needing glasses. Did you, Volpone?

Laser surgery only guarantees to make the eyesight better than it was, but not perfect.

I'm as nearsighted as one can be without being declared legally blind. I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years, and glasses since I was 8. It's just a part of me.

But now I'm starting to get a little astigmatism, and I think my next visit to the eyedoctor is going to be costly. So I'm waiting until I use up my entire contact lens supply before I get checked again.

^to be fair, when I tried contacts, I already had an astigmitism, and the doc prescribed hard lenses rather than soft. The hard lenses are healthier for eyes but no way comfy.THEN I found out my pal in Toronto wears soft lenses AND has an astigmitism, no problemo! FUCK! $300 bucks later!
I now have a new eye doctor & may give contacts another try. WHEN THE SCARS ON MY PSYCHE HAVE HEALED

I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years.

You should really take them out once in a while...

Is astigmatism when the eye is a funny shape?
