TK for WFers: A preemptive explanation

Instead of having one QSF thread after another, let's get all these out of the way.


Why doesn't TK have [x] board feature?

Certain board features are a liability. TK is the rowdy biker gang in the brotherhood of TBBS, WF, and some others. It's made plenty of enemies. Just last week we were being DOSed. Unsuccessfully, yes, but we're always at yellow alert.

Certain other board features would be useful but haven't been implemented (EYES GLARE AT A CERTAIN SOMEONE). Hopefully they will be implemented in the very near future.



What's with the spam?

It's not exactly 'Pasta Gambit,' but it's there. Unless it's really disruptive or if a person makes a request to have it split from the thread, we feel that it shouldn't really bother anyone. Also, some fora can be spammed and some cannot. Some can be flooded and most cannot. Contact your local admin to find out which.

There is a lot of freedom here, and a lot of focus on personal responsibility. If a person wants to spam topics which are clearly active and which the individuals enjoy posting in, then don't expect to make many friends.



What's with the edit times?

Personal responsibility comes with free speech. And we can't have some cocksmith posting, then coming back later to edit his post and put something that might screw around with TK's existence on the board.



Why is there no serious discussion?

It depends on the time of year, politics, and number of members interested in flexing their gray muscles. It's currently in a bit of a slump but when people want to, they really can get going. Example, late in pg. 1



Who is DW? Who is dual [x]?

I AM DW, OK? I've had enough of this 'Well if he was DW' crap being posted after I started the Diary thread in GFHH.

As for duals, no one admin can reveal them. If you register a dual and break the rules under it, the dual will be DCed and possibly your main account.

No one will go through your PMs, ever, because TK isn't susceptible to the sort of stuff that might go on at other boards.




What's DC?

What's with Jack?

He's just breaking you in. I've said too much.

Oh, and you can post anyone's PM you like. This cuts down on the fine line, paraphrasing, bullshit there.

So if there's a problem with PMs, it starts with you hitting 'submit' and trusting the wrong person.



You can go ahead and toss this thread into GFHH or QSF if you like.
 
I'm pretty sure you're just fucking with us (see, I assume everyone's just fucking with everyone else and trolling all the time here on TK but that assumption may change over time) but so far you've been quite helpful. Thank you for that. :)
 
Another question:
How is kharma different from rep? No ABAB for starters, that much I've realised. How many points a day? Etc.

No restriction. You can dish it out an infinite amount of times to the same person. Karma is reputation. There's no difference. There's also no real point, other than the fake points.

At which point does the karma I give out count? 50 posts?
And does every point count for 1 point or does it count more if you've got more karma power?

And you can't give Tkarma/Rep to the same post twice.

(Not unless we strip the system and start over, which has happened.
It's fun to re-karma bomb old posts.)
 
Rep power is a combination of

Registration date,
post count, and
current rep level.

(with special circumstances like Admin status)

50 posts, yep. It doesn't count for more than 1 point unless you've been registered for a while, have an astronomical post count, or huge amounts of points.
 
Hey this is pretty good. I'll move it where more can see.

About Karma/rep... you need 50 posts before you can give it. You can go to the badlands forum and spam 50 posts in a minute or two, flood control is at one second. If you get negged to the red by gagh and jack, they are the welcoming committee... everyone goes thru that.

I have arranged it so admins can cheat... our rep is worth 500 points, so if you want to be green send me a PM and $5 in small unmarked bills and I'll make it happen.

Posts in Day Care dont count towards your total, so dont waste time trying to spam there unless you want to poke at she who shall not be named.

You can give out Karma/rep all day and night to the same person over and over.

You may troll and flame in any forum. You are encouraged to troll and flame the staff. About the only thing we worry about (besides illegal stuff) is keeping spam out of the Bizarre Bazaar section. Even then, the forums are mostly unmoderated, so someone has to point out the spam to be split out.

If you can't post in this forum because you've just registered it's just our way to keep out the spambots. Sometimes you need to get someones attention to get you in the right usergroup.
