Sorry, that's a mammal, not a fish. It doesn't lay eggs, it gives live birth and produces milk. Fish lay eggs and don't produce milk.

Do people actually eat that thing? If so, is it any good? What's it taste like (which fish is it best comparable to)?

The coelacanth has no real commercial value, apart from being coveted by museums and private collectors. As a food fish the coelacanth is almost worthless as its tissues exude oils even when dead, imparting the flesh with a foul flavour.

In other words, it's the Dirk Funk of fish.
