After applying a stamp to a letter, cover your envelope in cellophane / cling film. Then the person at the other end can re-use the stamp as the ink will not stick.

I can see people doing this. I've seen those crazy coupon clippers first hand when I was a cashier, and I've seen a TV show about crazy people who go out shopping 3 AM the day after Christmas to get all the crazy deals on that day.
