Toys for Tots-a challenge

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
My fellow Americans, if there's ONE charity you can donate to each year, please make it Toys for Tots!! I was speaking to the guys in my building who are collecting the toys, and they said it's really a lean year. The Marine Corps' goal is to deliver 2 toys and 1 book or stuffed animal to every underpriviledged child in America. Imagine your kids (or neices, nephews, etc) waking up on Christmas morning and getting nothing. It's not a child's fault their parents can't afford Christmas gifts.

Hey here's a challenge: I've already dropped off a few toys, but if any TK'er donates to Toys for Tots between now and 12/20, post in here and I'll match your donation up to $100 (total). I'll trust you and take you at your word.

Ok, sorry, off my soapbox now!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!!

I donated a Barbie, Handy Mannie playset, and a stuffed penguin.

SO DID I!!! WE RULE!!!

Don't be mad, $100 isn't much, who knows if these DEADBEATS will even donate?? ;)

I'm not mad but Carrie isn't going to have to money to make a Christmas dinner for her family, that's pretty stinkin' sad. And did I mention that her sister's 6 week old son died on Tuesday. I think we can help her a little too.

Imagine your kids (or neices, nephews, etc) waking up on Christmas morning and getting nothing.

That could easily be avoided if Christmas was abolished.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but I've never liked Christmas.

Ever gotten a Birthday gift wrapped in Christmas paper?

I have.

I will find out where the local drop off point is. I am sure I have some old games or toys I can drop off. I need to clean stuff out for the eventual move to a smaller place anyway. I'll post details once I do the drop off.

I usually do nursing home gift trees this time of year, but I did donate some stuffed animals for TFT yesterday. Maybe $20 worth.

;)
mm

two groups I support: UNICEF and the local Sally Anne.
...but at Xmas make a point of donating something to the Firefighters' Toy Drive. We may not be loaded, but we've still a hella lot more than those kids who need those groups.
I hate the thought of kids going without anytime - but especially during the season when so many cultures are having feasts and celebrations. It's not right. Kids have no control over their environments, but they always seem to be the ones who pay the price for adult stupidity.

BDM, does this still need to be stickied?

No, you can unsticky it. No one responded with donations to this particular charity, but we still ended up buying about $80 in toys and dropped them off at my work.
