TRUE STORY

curiousa2z

Be patient till the last.
here's something weird:
I had this dream that I should dig in a certain spot by the house so yesterday I went out and about 2 feet down unearthed a perfectly intact old bottle. It doesnt have a seam in it but it does have those irregular bubbles in the glass. I wonder if I should dig a little deeper?

The reason I ask is:
a similar thing happened many years ago when I was a student renting an apt. in a really old building. I had this "idea" that if i went out in the backyard and started digging, I would find "treasure". So I went out in the backyard, (didn't have a shovel, just had a trowl for planting bulbs) and randomly dug into the ground and found this string of shells ..mostly broken, but they looked like they had been strung up to make a windchime of abalone shells.

Also there was a huge conch shell (!?!?!) !! It was so random...in the middle of a backyard in a little landlocked city. So yeah, the conch shell was a treasure, just not the kind I had in mind. But now I'm wishing I'd dug around more.

But maybe that was all the treasure there was....

BUT I DIGRESS THIS IS NOT ABOUT MY PSYCHOTIC EPISODES BUT RATHER WHETHER I SHOULD DIG SOME MORE OR NOT :rwmad:

Well, I would consider this as a gift of some sort.

And this one doesn't have a receipt so that you can swap it for something.

So, use it...

Make sure you call the people who check for utilities so you don't cause a gas leak and blow up a small section of Canada.

I still can't explain either incident...

Was this in the early/mid nineties? I went to college in Northern NY close to the Canadian border and remember making some day trips into Canada and leaving some "gifts".

I'm glad you found them and not some dude. That would be weird.

DIG DIG DIG!

In the old days people buried their trash. Back then they didn't have tons of crap, they reused everything they could, so the trash wasn't as trashy as our trash is today. I once dug a MASSIVE hole in the back yard and found lots of old bottles. I still have them... well I think my sister has them, but STILL.

I remember our front lawn got dug up so that they could work on the water lines, and I remember finding old bottles and junk too.

DRILL BABY DRILL?

I was going to say that you could dig pretty much anywhere and find something, but that seems to have already been proven by Cassie and Eggs (of course, Cassie's lying about her sister having the bottles. She took a good long look at them, wondered "what could I put in all these?" and had a ghastly idea for something she'd been meaning to start a collection of one day).

The shells are a bit weird, though. I say you should continue digging. There could be something really cool. Do you get arrowheads in your part of the country?

not sp far; I did start some digging around but then I noticed how weedy my garden was and went to work weeding instead. not the same level of excitement. :(

it was pouring rain so i didn't do any more digging yesterday and today I have a cold and am just not into it. But there will be other days. Also, I'm getting batteries for my metal detector and snooping around the foundations of some old farm house near the soccer pitch....might be something there.
