If he doesn't get a hit this game, his 35-game hitting streak stops cold. And BDM will be sad. The all-time record is 56, Joe DiMaggio in 1941.

The Mets need to tie it in the bottom of the 9th for Utley to get an extra-innings AB...

You know what's amazing? After DiMaggio's streak ended, he immediately reeled off a 23-game hitting streak! If he'd have gotten a hit in the 57th game, he could conceivably have had a 73-game hitting streak! YOWZA!!

That being said...I've heard that Joltin' Joe benefitted from the official scorer at Yankees stadium being a friend of his, and a couple of questionable hits were scored.

Oh, and sorry about that other thread, I was just tired and mad. It's all good, just friendly competition. :)
 
You earned the other thread, I'm sure there were some obnoxious "frontrunner fans" who are there instead of the Yankee game only because the Mets are doing better. I hate them more than Braves fans...
