I can hardly stand waiting until tomorrow to see if the dumpster scene is explored further. I know it is all over for him. Even if ... because look where he freaking was! But, still, there is a tiny part of me that thinks somehow he could have saved himself and someone will come along and things will improve for him and maybe, just maybe, but, it would have to be a really believable save because the waking up in the shower thing has been done and it didn't go over all that well with soap fans so the non-soap fans would riot if they pulled that crap on them. But, but, but, but .... I need to know!
 
I'm not done with this series yet. I want to see them rise up, though, do something about the walkers so humanity can recover.
This isn't like Lost where they kept dangling the carrot in front of me and then they gave me that disappointing end.
I wouldn't be surprised at all that when this ends they are all dead. Even if they survive, they aren't going to get out of it alive.
They will all end with a hole in the head.
 
I'm not at all upset or disappointed even if Glenn bites it. Death is the only constant in this show, and as one of the Talking Dead people pointed out, Glenn is one of the last few cast members who has never killed a human. The show still kicks ass, and if they can survive the travesty of an entire season at a goddamn farm, this will not be a problem.
 
How so? Was he really that untouchable? He hasn't had a strong arc in quite a while, and he hasn't experienced the growth that the others have. And with Morgan set to take the reins as moral compass, he's extraneous as a character. His death would serve to spur others onward, like Maggie, and his future (comic-based) role with Negan can be easily taken by Daryl.
 
That is one of the best things about this show is that no character is safe, no matter how popular they are or how seemingly important they are to the show overall. I'm going to miss Glenn - more than many of the other characters who've been killed off. He was the guy that saved the day in the beginning when Rick stumbled into the city and got stuck in a tank, swamped by a mass of walkers. I liked that Maggie had to pursue him and then he was such a great guy for her. He was one of those you could count on to have your back and save your butt. There would be no good way for him to go out but it would have to be in a way that there was no way he could save himself. He was crafty and smart. The situation we last saw him was a tad on the unbelievable side. He didn't trust that guy yet he let that guy take the lead when the stakes were so high. I think Glenn would have already scoped out the lay of the land and had a few exit plans before he let that guy lead him anywhere.

The writers say we will see more of Glenn and intimated it will be in flashbacks and in bits and pieces of him - even though I can't imagine there will be anything recognizable left of Glenn after that hoard of walkers tear him up. Saw a news headline today that the name of the actor playing Glenn has been removed from the opening and ending credits. That may be a red herring. The show is going to use the last scene of Glenn for all the mileage they can get out of it - which is going to be substantial.

I'll remind that Glenn was once on a bus full of people who died and turned while he was in the bus with them. He survived that. That was an awesome scene with Maggie going into that bus and checking out everyone of the walkers in the bus looking for Glenn. She will be no different now. She's going to look for him until she is certain there is nothing of him to find.

That's a fair point, but remember...Glenn was the one that had the wits to survive back in the beginning, showing them ways to get out when it seemed impossible. Suddenly he's following a loose cannon that admits he's clueless a couple times before killing them both over being numb with fear. Just sloppy emotional components in the characters suddenly, especially a key character.
 
Well to be fair, they are in panic mode pretty much from the get-go and trying to outrun a shit load of zombies to get back to their town. If you accept the premise that the first three episodes are all part of the same fucked up day, from the premature start to the zombie evac plan to the poorly timed wolf attack to the truck horn to the clusterfuck that is the attempt to get back home, then it makes perfect sense that the normally sharp witted Glenn would just have the same shit run of luck that has plagued the whole event. One of the things I like about the show is how skillfully they foreshadow, so skillfully that when the payoff happens it blows you away with things you missed. Remember Rick's big speech last year in the final episode, when he was convincing the Alexandria to man up: the whole theme of his rant was "you've been lucky. Luck runs out." I think Glenn will "survive" this trap with damage but is doomed by the end of the arc. Enough time for a tearful goodbye to Maggie. Gimple the show runner issued a statement expressing that he understood why people were pissed, but reminding fans that what they're doing is like complaining about the movies ending, before the movie ends. We're still in the middle of the movie.

Gotta admit, it's fucking EPIC level suspense and it got people talking. Hard to do that after six seasons.

They could still reach his head and he'd never be able to shove through that mass of bodies.

Other theory that he comes back as a zombie - with that many on top of him, there'd be nothing left of him to get up and walk or enough of him left to be recognizable.

Will have to wait til Monday to find out the glimpse we're supposed to get in this next episode.

There will be spoilers, and I'll probably see the spoilers before the episode, but I'll still need to see it for myself.
 
Then again he might be a walker himself now. The Morgan segue was interesting, but I'm sick of it, if the only reason they did that was to speculate on how he wasn't really dead yet.
 
Given the caliber of writing and directing widely available in today's television market, there's no excuse for twd's inane crap.

Fargo? The Americans?

It ain't hard to find well-written tv.

Not to mention a whole host of offerings from the premium channels.

No excuse.
 
I've been okay with their writing up until this last episode.
Considering the circumstances these characters are in I don't expect erudite dialogue - they are living in times beyond their scope and what they've been prepared to deal with in their prior lives.
However, here we are some five-six years after the end of the world as they know it and the best these folks can come up with is "this is what life looks like now." Granted, they've been fairly sheltered behind their walls but they had to have seen something in order to realize they needed to build those walls and build them to withstand what they will. Also, there were the guys going out looking for people. Surprising that they never once saw the herd of walkers heading towards the quarry not all that far from town. Also, it is not like Carol to leave a dead body unaccounted for. She'd have staked it in the head if she were anywhere near it when it died and if she killed it from a distance and wasn't able to stake it until later, she would have looked for that body until she found it. Plus, there is little said about the wolves that attacked them and ruined the plan that was working fairly well in addition to decimating the town from within. Should be some "how the heck did they get in and how do we know they are all gone and how do we fortify the town from that ever happening again - which is something we need to do as soon as the zombie hoard outside our walls are gone."

In addition to that, Rick is telling everybody they need to be as quiet as possible, curtains drawn and lights out at night. Then, he stands up on the wall chattering away with the teeming zombie masses below.

It is like they wrote this scene as kind of a filler while they drag out the situation with Glenn as long as they can.
 
Not sure what you mean by that. Are you saying that the leet speaking, one space after a full stop period, Calibri 11 point 1.5 lines formatting, face stuck in a phone "modern audience" is evolved? Perhaps when we've gone full circle back to the primordial the human race will have reached the ultimate in evolution, with an r.
 
Dog shit in the front yard is all that much more unpleasant when you realize there are so many other patches of grass near by that at are shit free.
