Wall-E

Cacophony

Anyone else seen it?

It's quite possibly one of the better movies I've ever seen, which is pretty amazing considering it's an animated film and I don't generally go for animated films. And it's absolutely OMG freaking adorable.

See it if you haven't; you won't be disappointed.

Name your top ten favorite movies.

I simply want validation of your tastes before I blindly wander to the theater into an annoying mess of CGI like A Bug's Life.

Now, there was well over 100minutes of my life lost and squandered never to be gotten back.

Oh dear lord.

Fight Club, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Lucky # Slevin, The Godfather 1 & 2, Without a Paddle, The Deer Hunter, American Gangster, Snatch, The Fifth Element, Spy Game, Full Metal Jacket, The Departed...

That's more than 10, and they're not an any order. Wall-E would definitely be in that list, but I'm sure you weren't asking about that. The list of DVDs GTC and I own is posted in that one thread you started if you want more. Just note that the more sci-fi stuff is his, since I'm not a huge fan.

It's not just beautiful animation, it's got a fairly poignant story that pertinent to today's world, while still managing not to be preachy. In the fist part of the movie, there's limited dialogue, but the little there is conveys such emotion. Towards the end of the movie, people around me were in tears (though surprisingly I wasn't - I'd say why, but it would spoil it) and we weren't the only ones to sit through the entire credits.

The Top Ten I tell everybody (no particular order):

Master & Commander
M*A*S*H*
Brazil
Dr. Strangelove
Star Wars
Citizen Kane
Jaws
Pulp Fiction
The Usual Suspects
LoTR Fellowship of the Ring

The Ten I don't often mention but I'd watch just as soon as anything on the above list:

Serenity
Cloverfield
Fandango ('85)
Lawn Dogs
Raising Arizona
Angel Heart
The Thing ('80)
Π
Slap Shot
Magnolia

Blair Witch Project would've made it but for a disqualification: I saw a festival bootleg about a month before it came out that didn't "explain" the final shot, which made it about ten times creepier --the release version ruined that for me. Another disqualified horror flick would be The Exorcist, which you can't even get now on DVD in the original cut that doesn't have that idiotic crab-walk-down-the-stairs shot.

Pixar flicks are sort of in a class by themselves. I don't think I've seen one yet that I've disliked, including A Bug's Life (which, believe it or not, more that a few people get mixed up with Antz.)

It's for everyone.

I seriously think I'm going to see it again. If I get the chance, that is.

My Top Ten (in no particular order)

The Princess Bride
A Knights Tale
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
American Psycho
Diary Of A Serial Killer
Henry
Return Of The Living Dead
Dawn Of The Dead (remake)
Freedom Writers
Pretty Woman

I'll have to bump one after Dark Knight Returns comes out later this month I have a feeling.

I've been toying with seeing Wall-E..just looks too much like Short Circuit, so I may just wait for the DVD. I enjoyed Iron Man and Hancock, though.

My Top Ten (in no particular order)

The Princess Bride
Own it, can recite almost every line... probably from the mere fact that I've seen it 8 gagillion times.

A Knights Tale
I liked it, but not good enough to put on my top 10. Though, a really gay friend of mine says it's his favorite movie.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
Haven't and probably won't see it ever.

American Psycho
Funniest movie ever. Huey Lewis and the News critique was the kicker.

Diary Of A Serial Killer
Haven't seen it.

I just want to start singing "Henry the 8th I am."

Return Of The Living Dead
Surprisingly enough, I haven't seen it. I mean, I've seen just about every other major zombie movie. Though, I downloaded it a few days ago and haven't watched it.

Dawn Of The Dead (remake)
Original's better.

Freedom Writers
WTF!? Ok... really!? That movie sucked goat balls.

Pretty Woman
Now I KNOW you're gay.

no Holy Grailllllll?

no Anchorman the Legend of Ron Burgundy?

no Super Troopers?

gagh!

-oh, hey.....is that where he got his name?

I love the Holy Grail, it's in my list, silly. Anchorman gets less and less funny every time that I watch it. Except for Brick. My god, do I love that character. Super Troopers is meh.

I went out to see Wall-E myself just yesterday and I liked it quite a bit. The film does have something to do with robots had NOTHING to do with "Short Circuit". ("Short Circuit" was the 'feel good robot sci fi flick of the 80s, the producers obviously want to bring back something of that with this one.).

Was it worth the $9.50 matinee price? Not really no, but I didn't walk away feeling ripped off either.

(..and to anyone that's intersted the last film I saw in the theater was Cloverfield-I liked Wall-E a bit better).
