Want Sarah Palin's personal emails?

I hope the thieving criminal that stole her identity to hack into her email account is sent to jail for a long, long time. He/she could have made an open records request for Palin's emails and Palin would have had to produce them.

Just like the way she promised an open investigation into Troopergate, right Wheezie? Just like the way she's honoring those perfectly legal subpoena's too right?

I don't think that's how it went at all, but maybe you could enlighten us on that part?

Yes! Let's utterly destroy some student hackers life for hacking an E-Mail account! Woo!

Which part are you wanting enlightenment on, Jack? The part where a criminal broke into her email account or the part about open records requests?

Is there no point in your view where one person is allowed to be protected from another person? How do you like it when other people inflict harm on you?

Personally, I think hackers are individuals on which retroactive abortion should be performed. They care nothing for the people they cause harm too so no one should give a damn about them.

Do a little Google-search-thingy with the names "Ted Rall" and "Danny Hellman". Fun read.

You're asking for a total wipeout of someones life for hacking a fucking YAHOO account.

MY point of view is that people should be protected from overzealous criminal action and retribution whether it be abortion or hacking or anywhere in-between. Reasonable punishment for breaking the law is one thing. And I wouldn't be opposed to some sort of punishment for breaking the law. It's the pathetic "put their heads on spikes and parade around with them" mentality I oppose, FYI.

We have a case right now in the UK where the US want to extradite a British national because he hacked the Pentagon with one hand tied behind his back looking for information about UFO's. He's not a threat, he's just a super geek. He did something stupid by showing how stupid your computer defences are but he still shouldn't be extradited since he commited the crime on British soil. It's nothing but retribution and until you lose this "take their eyes" bullshit you damn skippy I'll oppose it.

The issue here is that he "hacked" an account across state lines which makes it a federal offense. He didn't really hack it however. The guy admitted that he did a google search and found the answer to her password reset question. Granted, that's similar to guessing the combination of a safe, but if it's so easy to gain access, what's the point of having it? Palin was stupid enough to have a personal e-mail account (and a blatantly obvious one at that) on a non-secure non-government web server. To me that's similar to her walking down DC streets at night with a bikini on and a bag of $20's over her shoulder with a sign that reads "Rape me and win a bag of $20's!" This gives rise to the question of whether or not Palin is really the woman we want in charge of the technology of the white house. I mean, what if she had been using that account for the transmission of government secrets? Hell, if she had given away her itinerary, she could've been assassinated.

Frankly, the cracker got lucky and was playing a prank. Palin got lucky in the fact that she wasn't doing something far more illegal than disregarding federal subpoenas. So, in spite of the fact that I think that what this kid did was wrong, I don't think we should play Fox News' game of misdirection. Palin is far worse of a criminal than the college kid who is good at research.

People try to hack my personal info all the time sugar. That's why I've left a deliberate trail of misinformation behind.

Fun to watch who follows what based on the results, actually.
