Watched GI Joe

I want to smell dark matter
The great movies keep on coming!

I remember when this was released in the summer the reviews tended to say "well, it was shit but it was a lot better than Transformers 2 at least!" And, having watched...it was shit but it was a lot better than Transformers 2.

I actually smiled a few times watching GI Joe (which is rare for me at the best of times!) which is more than I did during Transformers. It's completely ridiculous, but somehow works in a "so dumb it's funny" way. It feels like a live action cartoon and I imagine that's what they were going for.

There's a bit where a ninja flashes back to fighting his arch nemes in a kitchen...when they were eight years old. It's played straight and it's hilarious.

Sienna Miller is very entertaining as the Baroness (though they ruin her character a bit at the end) and a million times hotter than Megan Fox (as is Rachel Nichols.) Christopher Eccleston speaks with a scottish accent so absurd that you can't help but come to the conclusion that he MUST have been taking the piss. Though you're also left asking "YOU LEFT DOCTOR WHO FOR THIS!?"

The action scenes are a bit of a mixed bag: the final underwater battle is a bit shit but the Paris chase scene is like a live action team america and more entertaining than anything in Transformers. Ray Park doing ninja stuff is always fun.

The movie drags a bit but it's shorter than Transformers 2, which is welcome. DON'T GET ME WRONG, it's still shit, but if someone forces you at gun point to watch either this or Transformers 2, choose GI Joe.

I'll keep that in mind.

So you bought an entire Blockbusters store for Christmas, huh? :)

Oh dear.

YOU'D PROBABLY LIKE IT

Would Kit Fisto approve?

He'd just smile.

I liked it, just try not to think too much when you're watching it.

And it left the door open for a sequel!

not a sequal

It's inevitable.

its shameful...
