I want to smell dark matter
So all those complaints I read about the pacing and lack of action were...actually completely accurate.

The racetrack scene is really good, but then it goes ultra slow for an hour. AND YES, I appreciate character stuff but it could have been done in a more compelling way. Mickey Rourke's character isn't really a very memorable villain at all. Justin Hammer is better but there's too many bits of him just talking on and on.

And really after all that they should have delivered a better finale but the fight between Iron Man, War Machine and Whiplash lasts literally less than a minute, which is kind of pathetic. There must be something wrong when the action scene with Black Widow is far more enjoyable than the actual Iron Man bits (and Black Widow is given literally no character other than "she's a SHIELD agent". But ScarJo was really good with what she had.)

I'd still classify it as good and worth watching and Robert Downey is as good as ever, but it could have been so much better.
 
100% agreed on all points. I can't believe most of my friends thought this one was better than the first. Not even close. Is it just me, or did Tony come off not like playfully egotistical like in the first one, but downright smarmy instead?
 
Appart from the pacing I guess it just tried too damn hard to replicate the sucsessful scenes from the first movie.

It just didn't have anything new to offer apart from more of the same, black widow not withstanding.

It came off as less of a film in its own right, but more a really long trailer for the avengers.
 
There was never any feeling of danger or adventure.

But ScaJo's nose looked really nice when she stepped into the boxing ring.

It's important to highlight noses every once in a while.
 
Yeah, her nose was certainly a highlight. I liked the design of the drones and the fight at the racetrack was cool, but otherwise not very much really happened. It was a bit like a Smallville episode, but with a bigger budget.

Yes, some characters got introduced, yes, some stuff got blown up, but ultimately, nothing changed.
 
Had an iron man dream last night, havent seen either film in ages so I am blaming this thread.
 
Did you have metal feet.
 
Kind of, I was in the war machine suit, while Tony was in the Iron Man suit, we were flying around town, then he got me to land on top of a block of flats.

He told me to sit on the edge to get comfortable with the suit, but the weight dropped me over the side.

Luckily I got the suit flying again before I hit the ground.
 
They'd put that in the trailer!

Thought it was pretty cool! Placing complaints were true, but I STILL LIKED IT. THINGS EXPLODED? SCARJO WITH HER BREASTS AND NOSE AND (BUM). Thor's hammer.
