I'm not talking about doing something and growing beyond it. I'm talking about shit eating, murdering and stump fucking, then becoming smart enough to find better ways around eating shit, and then just going back to shit eating because it's easier and requires no creative thought.

Addiction isn't really intellectual laziness, it's simply rapacious want unfulfilled. Although if you're referring to humanity's desire to talk about working together only to fuck over the people who helped them rise to power or money, then you are right.
