I tried to make the background nebula a bit more unusual by adding a couple of things, let me know if it looks ok or just a mess.

It looks a bit like an eyeball.

Needs less red.

I like the red. It looks like they're inside a giant Cylon spaceship that's all gooey and organy.

It reminds me of Mustafa without Hayden Christensen & Ewan McGregor doing a bad impression of Sir Alex Guinness, so it gets PLUS TWO KARMA.

I have the high ground.

Thanks guys, of course they hate it at sci fi meshes.

Then they're asshats.

LOL, really? Maybe you should change your name to Andrew?

lol, nah hes left the board in a huff over something or other.

Yeah they said the ships blended in too much with the background, and they also didnt like the background.

One of them spotted the tree, but noone has spotted the monster skull yet

Oh, I don't visit SFM much nowadays, so I'm not up on the politics.

I don't know what's wrong with the background, I think it makes a change from boring old stars.

Btw, I don't know if you've ever posted the images of your Viper on here, but you should if you haven't. I was going through some files this morning and found those. I'd forgotten how realistic they were.

it looks awesome!

Thanks John, the Viper will probably see more action if I ever get round to modelling the landing gear.

In the meant time, for anyone who didnt see them before

THE MUSIC'S IN THE FRAKKING SHIP.

I also like the one that has the view of the Viper from the rear flying over a planet (which I think was another photo from a plane like in your second pic here).

Right now I'm working on a MkVII, but I'm dreading the UV mapping. I didn't even finish texturing my MkII because of that.

Just dont try and do it all in one peice, thats the mistake I often make.

Do the engines with a cylindrical map, and dont be afriad to break other bits down so that you can apply a planar map to each surface.

Sometimes a cylindrical map can work for the fusulague too, and if you are absolutly sure you have finished the modelling, try UVunwrap.

You mean this one?

I remember when you posted this before. I had it as my wallpaper for a while. I think I might put it back!

Great work as always.
