What is an emo?

Emo is a slang term derived from the word "emotional", used to describe a range of fashion styles and attitudes somewhat affiliated with emo music and its related scene. As an adjective, emo can describe a style of fashion or music; or a general state of unhappiness or melancholy (as in "to feel emo"), as those stereotyped of emo are often unhappy, think they are misunderstood, and may have mild paranoia. Emo is also used as a noun, often pejoratively, to identify a member of the "emo scene" (or more and more often, just "The Scene") or someone viewed as fitting the "emo" stereotype.
 
Put it this way. If I really felt like abusing my powers I'd change your name to DarthEmo, change your avatar to this:

the first "emo" music was hardcore with more complexity and personal subject matter like Husker Du, Fugazi, Rites of Spring. The fag rock that is called emo now is pretty different similar.

I was going to say similar to Sunny Day Real Estate, the last sort of good band that was identified as Emo.
 
So, basically you're saying that "emo" means a Huge Dripping Pussy.
