I was wondering what the prevailing troll archtype is here in the land of TK. I had a bigger list made up but had to cut it down due to the limit on the number poll options. I know a few types were missed on account of this. No doubt I also don't know all the types of trolls out there, although I have had alot of experience with them in my years on message boards and here at TK.
1) The Annoyance--- This troll loves to be hated, he likes posting spam, porn, and nasty links. He registers many alts and sometimes works with friends to flood forums, often in the middle of the night when the mods and admins are scarce.
2) The Joker--- This troll thinks he's the funniest poster on the board. He gets a huge kick out of his jokes and pranks whether anyone else does or not. He thrives on the laughter of others and will do anything for a laugh. If he can get the people laughing at an enemy or an admin so much the better.
3) The Teacher--- AKA The Rules Lawyer and that prick that keeps correcting everyone.This guy studies the TOS of the board and any board rules. He finds loopholes and exploits them, corrects grammar, spelling and facts. Nobody is smarter than this poster and he lets you know it with his condescending attitude.
4) The Debater--- AKA The Martyr. This guy has a just cause. He may be a long time board member that got fucked over by the rules or an admin or he may be a newcomer that siezes upon any subject that pops up in QSF to stir the shit. Righteous, Pompous, and condescending all at the same time he doesn't know how to quit.
5) The Attention Whore--- This poster is hung up on himself. Everything revolves around him and he will point out how great he is at the drop of the hat. Everyone else sucks donkey balls and if you have exchanged posts, he pwns you and you are his bitch. Often posts in extreme colors, huge fonts, or has obnoxiously huge sigs. All bow to the one true egotist.
6) The Victim--- Whether by accident or design, this guy is just retarded. He misconstrues everything and pretends to know very little. Often hides behind an innocent act and pretends not to know why everyone is so mean and is confused about why everyone is so mad at him.
7) The Anarchist--- AKA The Evil Overlord, this guy thinks he's an evil super villain. He thinks he's the baddest motherfucker on the board and he wants the board to become the next best thing to hell. Anarchy is his game and he'll use the most despicable tactics to achieve this end. Sowing strife in every thread he posts in he looks for threads that have potential to explode and jump in with both feet in order to push people here and there to ensure that it does just that.
8) The Politician/Preacher--- This guy uses the most rabidly held beliefs of the posters against them. Preaching religious freedom or repression, political right and/or left. This guy can have a huge store of knowledge in his field or next to none. Both will piss off alot of posters if used correctly. Religion and politics are topics that will rarely change through discussion and with this guy they definitely will not. Often off the wall with wild beliefs and conspiracy theories, much yelling will be had by all.
9) The Deviant--- He loves to be nasty. Stories about a criminal background or depraved acts are some of his sharpest tools. He will often have pictures to illustrate his point that will make rotten.com look like Sesame Street. The more disguted his audience, the happier he is.
10) The Instigator--- AKA the Cheerleader. He stays in the shadows, uses a diminutive voice in posts and appears to be utterly innocent. Often uses PM's to plant ideas or to leak information on the "opposing" side. He sees a disagreement and fans the flames to a withering crescendo all the while escaping the notice of the admins and mods of the board as people all around him get banned.
So how about it... Which are you?
Many of you will fall into multiple categories and alot of you have probably used most if not all of these techniques, but which would you define yourself by?
