Is a "crossover hit" a song that is a hit in more than one genre, or a song that is more than one (or an ambiguous) genre that is a hit in one of those genres?
It was a moderate hit. Crossover hits are generally just like CDJ's song "Complicated". By that I mean, CDJ is known as a "country" artist, but the song was pure pop. Faith Hill is a classic example of a crossover artist, and Shania Twain pretty much perfected it. Her song "Havin' a Party" was actually recorded twice: Once as a country song with Billy Currington, the other a pop song with Mark McGrath.
But I know a person who was *in* her wedding. He mentioned how his friend's wife was a somewhat well known country singer, and all the musicians in his friend circle are sort of in awe, since she is now on a totally different level. They all went on vacation together a few weeks ago. Some beach house.
I didn't know what country singer, but I managed to put it together through casual references. Wasn't too hard except I know nothing about music stuff.
