Starship Coyote
Original Gangster!
In historiography, it's better to ignore short-term fads and pay attention to long-term historical trends.
In the colonial days before the American Revolution, there were four major waves of English immigration to the colonies. With the exception of three Presidents, all others were descendants of those English colonists. The exceptions were:
- Martin Van Buren (of Dutch descent): rode Andy Jackon's coattails into office.
- Dwight Eisenhower (of German descent): WWII hero.
- John F. Kennedy (of Irish descent): war hero and fashion plate running against a boring Republican... even so, he barely won.
Before anyone brings up the Roosevelts and their Dutch surname... they both had plenty of English blood through their mothers. Call them anomolies.
Even if you count in the Roosevelts, historically the odds favor McCain winning the election.
I'm not crazy about it either, but there you are...
