Why hasn't Reed Richards cured cancer yet?

It's pretty unrealistic that with all the amazing things Reed Richards has done, he hasn't cured cancer yet. He can cure an alien disease worse than cancer (probably!) but not actual cancer? Or is it that he HAS a cure for cancer but he's not releasing it because of some "greater good" reasoning, the bastard?
