Why???

Why does "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" have to have only six episodes per season?

FUCKING BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, but take the greatest icons of British design: Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, Spaced, Black Books, The Young Ones - six episodes per season/series, the lot. And we're not talking 10-20 runs here, but maybe two or three. The Young Ones, for example, only 12 eps in total.

I believe fucking limey bastards is the correct term. ;)

Hell... Blackadder, arguably the second most popular show, peaked at 24 eps. A wealth of material.

Well alright, but hopefully they'll rectify this situation and give it a more proper ending... right after Animated Bean and Johnny English 2. Chop chop!

But really, it belongs in the 80's. Still charging no man's land, as it should be.

Also AbFab. Six eps per season, plus they did fun things like wait 6 years to start a new season.

British comedy, the old six-episode format. The great thing is when you look back on shows like Fawlty Towers and Blackadder you think there was more episodes because every moment of the entire series was gold.

Back and Forth wasn't great at all, this is quite true but it wasn't T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E. It just didn't match up to the actual series. Christmas Carol is great.

Ah, Ab Fab...those were the days. Gods, I miss that show.

Abort! Abort, abort, abort, abort! Bring me...a knitting needle.

Very true, and it's all due to novelty and unconventionality. This is why "Back & Forth" didn't work: It wasn't so much about serving the wit as it was adhering to service-oriented thoughts. They had a mold that all of a sudden lost its glorious crown. And when you lose the funny, the rebuilding exercise more often than not vanquishes in a bloody, coughing fit.

Animated Bean, Johnny English - whatever - some time off is good. Then, hopefully, they can find their way back...

Shame they never ended up making the blackadder 5, where the regulars played a band in the 60s, still it might have been contrived finding a way for them to face death each week.

Ah, yes... so it's true? The 60's was the next step?

Though, problably wisest to wait and leave well enough alone. Actual retirement age might prove to be a new dawn for everyone involved... nothing to lose.
