It burst into flames slowly and she deliberately stayed inside, so its a little different from the "slight ding - instant fireball" of the Pinto.
 
Maybe she thought fire doesn't burn the stubborn.
 
Maybe she is reliving the same day over and over and over and this was one of her suicide attempts. Maybe, just maybe, she gaily skipped over the super strings, across the void of space time, through a dimensional barrier and awoke at 6 am listening to Sonny and Cher.
