Zombie Hunter
...a hypothetical question, of course. For some reason I got to thinking about Jules (from Pulp Fiction) and the $800 in his wallet and his proposed career change. I was thinking "damn, now he's starting out with nothing". But of course that was just his "walkin' around" money. He's likely got money socked away elsewhere. Depending on what killing pays, he could likely "walk the earth" in relative comfort. Which brings me to my point:
Would you kill a person for a million dollars? It wouldn't be someone with bodyguards and such, just some guy (or girl (or kid?)). You're not guaranteed to avoid being caught, although the odds are certainly in your favor. You are guaranteed that the money is untraceable and you can do with it what you want. Put it in a no-load mutual fund, indexed to the Dow Jones or the S&P 500 and you can likely pocket around $70,000 a year without lifting a finger or touching the principal. Heck, you could live pretty comfortably on $70k and still have some money to give to worthy causes.
Besides, it isn't like you're really killing someone, are you? I mean, he's dying anyway--just like we all are. You're just speeding it up a little. Heck, if you're competent, maybe you're actually doing him a favor. He doesn't have to worry about his student loans anymore. And being pushed off a cliff or shot with a high powered firearm is a lot more pleasant death than most cancers or Alzheimers or a host of other diseases.
What do you think? Could you do it? Would you do it? Why or why not? (There's a good chance I'll argue against you whatever you say.)
