Would you?

Eat something you left in your car overnight? Even if it was a chilly 42 in your car?

I ask because every year my dad makes lima beans and ham with our left over Christmas ham for New Year's eats. I love this tradition but last night my moron brother cocked it all up. He took the beans out of the oven and left them in the garage all night. He claimed it was cold enough and they didn't need to cook all night. Like my dad doesn't know what he's been doing for the last at least 34 years. Anyway, I nicknamed the beans "Beans of Bacteria" and will not be enjoying this yummy tradition this year. Am I wrong or is the rest of my family begging for a bug?

If you heat it up to 180 degrees you kill any bacteria, don't you? And if it stayed in a steady 42 degree environment, it's not that far from refrigerator temp...

I don't think 24 hours is enough time for visible mold to form. Just heat it up slowly (medium heat) in an oven/stovetop, not in a microwave. Heat is what kills bacteria, not radiation.

Seems like 42 degrees is pretty cold. I think I'd do what Eggs says and kill any bacteria with heat.
