WrestleMania 22 thoughts and predictions

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
John Cena versus Triple H - The build-up suggest to me that Cena's going to win in an "upset", but who knows? HHH is bound to get the belt back sometime this year, so it could easily be tonight. The match won't be very good, but there is always the chance the fans will turn on Cena and boo him out of the building again. Which is always good for a laugh, at least. Prediction: Cena wins.

Kurt Angle versus Rey Mysterio versus Randy Orton - It looks like Rey's going to win to avenge his dead friend (worst storyline ever) but I could see them just as easily giving Orton the win. Should be a good match. Angle has no chance. Eddie Guerrero will get more chants than anyone actually in the match. Prediction: Orton wins.

Shawn Michaels versus Vince McMahon - This has had more promotion than either of the title matches but I don't know anybody who actually wants to see it. I think it'll be entertaining enough: they'll both bleed, Vince will take some crazy bump to prove that he belonds in the ring and twenty people will run in (but not Bret Hart.) I'd rather see Shawn wrestle an actual WRESTLER, though. Prediction: Michaels wins.

Edge versus Mick Foley - Could be the match of the night if Foley is in shape and makes the effort. But his last match (with Carlito last year and I bet you've all forgotten it already) sucked so this might too. Prediction: Edge wins.

Money In The Bank Ladder Match - Last year's had Jericho, Christian, Benoit, Edge, Shelton Benjamin and Kate. Five of the best workers in the company and Kane to throw them around. This year's looks like a bit of a styles clash but I think it'll be pretty good. Hardy, RVD and Benjamin will take the crazy bumps, Finlay will beat the crap out of everyone, Lashley's improved lately and will want to prove himself and Flair will stumble around comically. RVD should win but I think it's going to be Flair. Prediction: Flair, like I just said.

The Undertaker versus Mark Henry (Casket Match) - Prediction: Undertaker. Duh.

Chris Benoit versus JBL - Should be a good solid match. Prediction: Benoit wins.

Kane and The Big Show versus Chris Masters and Carlito - Show and Kane really need to lose them to have any kind of tag division on RAW. How come the Smackdown tag titles aren't being defended? Prediction: Masters and Carlito win.

Trish Stratus versus Mickie James - I think this has actually had the longest build of any match on the card and probably the best build too. It'll be a good woman's match. Prediction: Mickie James wins.

Booker T and Sharmell versus The Boogeyman - Boogeyman literally can't wrestle, so this won't be much of a match. Booker and Sharmell have been funny in the build-up so this MIGHT be amusing. Maybe. Prediction: Boogeyman.

Torrie Wilson versus Candice Michelle in a PlayBoy Pillow Fight - Piss break. Prediction: No.

It won't be the worst WrestleMania ever, certainly won't be the best and Bret Hart will not appear.

Actually, I can see Bret Hart running in and Screwing Vince out of his win.
So Vince would have to put some other rat out of his ass to save face.
Of Course that would mean Stone Cold would be in there too.

With a Suprise appearace from Marty Jannetti!

And Jim "The Anvil" Neidhardt!

I bet you, you'll be suprised.

The only one I feel comfortable making a call on is UT vs Henry. Henry's contract is about up, and there's no way they'll break the Undertaker's streak for a guy who's probably on his way out.

Opener was decent, but what was the point in having Big Show and Kane keep the belts? Interesting that Carlito was the most popular guy in the match.

Money In The Bank wasn't as good as last year and was a bit on the short side, but still lots of fun with some great stuff from Shelton Benjamin. Why was Flair even in the match? He took one big bump then did nothing. I had a horrible feeling he was going to push RVD off the ladder at the end and win, but thankfully the right man won.

Benoit/JBL had some nice stiff action but ended too apruptly and JBL seemed blown up by the end.

Edge/Foley was great, probably the match of the night. Amazing finish.

FUNNIEST BACKSTAGE SKIT EVER! Or at least since The Rock was employed. I'm so happy that they remembered the Booker/Goldust friendship and you can't go wrong with Snitsky licking Mae Young's toes. The match was a steaming pile of crap, on the other hand. There's no point giving Boogeyman wins when he CAN'T WRESTLE. I noticed that the fans turned on him as well.

Trish/Mickie was the best woman's match in a long time, even though the end was screwed up. You could say it was Trish's injured leg that was responsible for it, I suppose. Mickie being cheered over Trish gave me a hard-on.

Castket match was shite as everyone in the world predicted. Undertaker did his cool running dive, at least, but Henry did absolutely nothing.

Michaels/McMahon was basically Shawn beating up Vince for 20 minutes. Shawn did a good job making it entertaining but I still really don't see the point in the whole feud. I know at least one person who'll be very happy that Shawn did the DX crotch chop.

The Smackdown main event was great while it lasted...but it only lasted nine minutes! They must have needed more time for more important things like the Pillow Fight and Cena and HHH's entrances. Rey could be a huge flop as champion as there's only so much heat you can leech off a dead man. Angle was by far the most popular man in the match. Orton didn't do much.

Is there anyone who actually wanted to see the pillow fight? I think it was the first time there's been a "boring" chant during a T&A match.

Cena/HHH was a decent match but the crowd reactions were great. They were actually chanting "fuck you Cena" at several points. Which is pretty harsh. I think what the WWE wanted is for Cena to win the fans over in the end with his pluck and courage but they still hated him at the end of the match. He needs to turn heel.

It was a good show.
