It seems that practice of honor is rapidly becoming a lost art.
The only people that seem to have any concept of honor anymore is the US military. Honor is respect, tradition, a moral code that cannot be broken. It's a duty that must be upheld at all cost. To fail in your honor is to be shamed beyond the limits of the understanding of those with no honor. Honor is about respect for yourself and your fellow man. Without one's word, one has very little, yet so many people embrace that lack of honor as a virtue in this age of confusion.
Pretty much everyone these days seems to be intent on burying the entire concept as fast as humanly possible.
Feminists have long since ruined honor in men. With just a withering gaze these women have made it a bad thing to open a door for them or to offer to help them in pretty much any way. When a man will sit on a packed bus and watch dispassionately as a woman stands truly we have been taught a horrible lesson. Shrewish and frigid women have sent their men running into the arms of warmer and more understanding women. It seemed like a good alternative at the time for the men, but at what cost? Their honor is lost among a web of lies and betrayal. Now men and women hardly give it a second thought to betray those they claim to love most.
A man's word is no longer his bond. The honest are often looked upon with scorn and disdain. The crooked excell and leave the decent behind in all things from business to politics and beyond. Liars rule the nation and the world.
So at what point does this kind of behavior become intolerable?
Is honor lost forever or can it be regained?
Is it too late to turn back, are we doomed to continue down the path to the dark side of human nature?
Are we lost along with our honor?
