I am waiting for a wireless timer shutter for my camera so that I can capture some of the snowfall and what is known as a "roofalanche". The buildings that are closed and turned off for the winter have over 6 feet of snow piled on top of them, when it falls it is pretty cool.
Today we had rain on top of snow which is a good combo for a trigger, but thankfully it didn't happen. I won't get my timer until Friday as mail only comes on M,W,F during the winter.
We could not pick up the mail today which is 13 miles down the road due to an avalanche covering the road around mile 5.
Yesterday our internet was down for about 23 hours. And we are running on 45 KW of power from our hydro dam. When there is an avalanche at the dam the power goes out until it clears itself, which it usually does, otherwise we have to manually clear it.
It has been snowing all day. It has snowed 66 inches this month.
By the end of this week we will have almost 5 hours of direct sunlight as the sun tops over the peaks it has been hiding behind all winter. (We usually have about 2 hours of direct sun in the winter).
