February 1-3 - Toronto, ON Canada​

The NHL awarded Toronto as the host city of the game on February 3, 2024. This will be the first time since 2012 in Ottawa that a Canadian city was selected to host the game. This will be Toronto's ninth time hosting the NHL All-Star Game, including the first game in 1947. This will be the second time that Scotiabank Arena (then known as Air Canada Centre) will host the game, the first time coming in 2000.

Auston Mathews and Connor Bedard highlight the group of 32 players selected by the NHL to play in the 2024 NHL All-Star Game at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Feb. 3. Matthews, who leads the NHL with 30 goals, will represent the host Toronto Maple Leafs. Bedard, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, leads the Chicago Blackhawks and all NHL rookies with 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists).

The NHL unveiled the 2024 All-Star Game jerseys. Many times that is cause to be excited. Not this time around. The league went full on create a jersey for street hockey in EA Sports' NHL games for these things. Clearly, based on the design, the league is trying to pull in new fans from outside their traditional base. That's great. The more people involved in the game, the better.​

Auston Matthews reaches 40-goal mark before All-Star break​

Auston Mathews scored his NHL-leading 40th goal to reach 600 career points, and the Toronto Maple Leafs completed a home-and-home sweep of the Winnipeg Jets with a 4-2 victory. Matthews scored from the high slot with 4:32 left. He extended his points streak to six games, with seven goals and three assists during the run.

Everything to know about 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto​

Hockey’s brightest stars are headed to the Six. The 2024 NHL All-Star Game is being held in Toronto this weekend and will feature several new twists. From an All-Star Player Draft to a new skills competition format, the NHL is shaking things up for this year’s festivities. NHL All-Star Thursday begins at 6 p.m. ET and features the NHL All-Star Player Draft. The 2024 NHL All-Star Skills Competition begins at 7 p.m. ET on Feb. 2 and the 2024 NHL All-Star Game will commence at 3 p.m. ET on Feb. 3.

2024 NHL All-Star Game format

The NHL All-Star Game is actually three games. Teams will square off in three-on-three games with 10-minute halves. If the game is tied after 20 minutes, it will go directly to a three-round shootout with extra rounds as necessary to determine a winner. The winners of the first two games return to the ice for a final contest to determine the NHL All-Star Game winner.

2024 NHL All-Star Roster

This year’s NHL All-Star Game will feature a unique All-Star Player Draft. The competition is broken down into four teams, each with a captain, assistant captain and celebrity captain. Teams will draft from the remaining pool to assemble 11-player teams (nine skaters and two goalies).

2024 NHL All-Star Skills Competition format

The NHL revamped the All-Star Skills Competition, combining individual events into a single contest and putting a $1 million prize up for grabs. Twelve All-Stars will compete in multiple events and earn points based on how they finish. Each player will compete in four of the first six events: fastest skater, hardest shot, stick handling, one-timers, passing challenge and accuracy shooting. First place is worth five points, second place is worth four points and so on. The top eight players through six events will advance to the seventh: the shootout. Going from eighth place to first place, players will pick from the eight All-Star goalies one at a time and go head-to-head against them. The shootout will follow the same scoring as the first six events. The top six players will then take on the final event: the obstacle course. The event includes all prior skills and is worth double the points: 10 points for first, eight points for second, etc. The player with the most points in the end will skate away with the $1 million prize.

Connor McDavid wins $1M revamped NHL All-Star skills challenge​

Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid won the $1 million NHL All-Star skills competition Friday night, an event he helped the league redesign this season. McDavid helped the NHL revamp the skills competition with a back-to-basics approach. The field of players was limited to 12 stars in an effort to build more competition for a $1 million prize. The NHL also jettisoned its pretaped events and judged trick-shot competition in an effort to reorient it back to pure hockey skill. McDavid opened the competition by winning fastest skater for the fourth time in his career, finishing in 13.408 seconds.

McDavid won his second event in the stickhandling challenge with a time of 25.755 seconds and then his third in the shooting accuracy competition with a time of 9.158 seconds. That event featured guest passers in Professional Women's Hockey League stars Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull, as well as Toronto Maple Leafs legends Steve Thomas and Doug Gilmour.Eight players advanced to the one-on-one event, where skaters selected which All-Star goalies they wanted to face.

Matthews leads own team past Team McDavid to win 2024 NHL All-Star Game​

The Toronto Maple Leafs won the 2024 Honda (U.S.)/Rogers (Canada) NHL All-Star Game. Matthews, the captain, had two goals and an assist to win Most Valuable Player. Marner scored, and Rielly and Nylander each had an assist. They also defeated Team Hughes, captained by Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes, 6-5 in a shootout in the semifinal game. Team Matthews, helped by celebrity captain Justin Bieber, will split the $1 million that goes to the winning team.

MVP Auston Matthews leads his team to NHL All-Star victory​

The Maple Leafs made their hometown crowd proud during NHL All-Star Weekend. And it was capped by an MVP performance from none other than Austin Matthews. Three of Matthews' teammates with the Maple Leafs -- Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly and William Nylander were all part of Team Matthews and contributed to the title on their home ice at Scotiabank Arena.

The 2026 All-Star Game will be the 69th in NHL history. The League will not hold an All-Star Game next year because of the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off next season, a tournament featuring the United States, Canada, Sweden and Finland taking place Feb. 12-20. The dates and times for NHL All-Star Weekend will be announced at a later date. The NHL last held an All-Star Game prior to players going to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2002, when the Winter Games were in Salt Lake City. The NHL also held an All-Star Game in Vancouver in 1998 before the Nagano Olympics, the first that featured NHL players.
