This is Mariner 2. It was the first probe to visit Venus - in fact, it was the first probe to visit another planet - which it did all the way back in 1962.

"Now Charlemagne!" you may ask. "What in God's name does THIS have to do with sports?" The answer? More than you think. Ya see, after Mariner 2 completed its exploration of Venus, they built a float of it for the 1963 Rose Bowl Parade. In fact, it was THE main float.

Of course, even without the Rose Bowl connection, it's still more interesting than what usually goes on in this sub-forum.

With action, Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence 'backs up' his words
Many traits make Lawrence, 27, one of the NFL's best. He has the requisite size, arm length and speed. He has a variety of moves, using his speed and power. Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli calls him relentless.

"If they give me some bulls---, I'm giving them some bulls--- right back," Lawrence said.

"They're going to have to match our intensity," Lawrence said. "S---, for 60 minutes straight, if you hit a m----- f----- in the mouth and then they ain't doing what they're regularly doing, putting up 50 points, they start to get a little distressed. Now, you got them where you want them at."

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowls
Although the Dallas Cowboys haven’t had a Super Bowl win or appearance since 1996, their fans expect them to be there each and every year. The Dallas Cowboys have been there eight times throughout their history, tied with only one other team, the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Cowboys Super Bowls:
1996: Dallas Cowboys (27) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (17)

1994: Dallas Cowboys (30) vs. Buffalo Bills (13)
1993: Dallas Cowboys (52) vs. Buffalo Bills (17)
1979: Dallas Cowboys (31) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (35)
1978: Dallas Cowboys (27) vs. Denver Broncos (10)
1976: Dallas Cowboys (17) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (21)

1972: Dallas Cowboys (24) vs. Miami Dolphins (3)
1971: Dallas Cowboys (13) vs. Indianapolis Colts (16)

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowls are an impressive number in the NFL. Through their hard work and dedication to the sport, they continue to improve, grow, and strive for their next Super Bowl appearance. The fans are ready.

Week 9 NFL Power Rankings: 1-32 poll, plus players who need to step up
No.12: Dallas (4-3) - Player who needs to step up? - Jaylon Smith leads the Cowboys in tackles, has two sacks, two tackles for loss, two pass deflections and two quarterback hurries, but he has not played as well as he played last season, which is why the coaches moved to a rotation of sorts between Smith, Leighton Vander, Sean Lee and Joe Thomas.

Top 5
No.1: New England (8-0)
No.2: San Francisco (7-0)
No.3: New Orleans (7-1)
No.4: Green Bay (7-1)
No.5: Kansas City (5-3)

Cowboys Had Interest, But Couldn’t Land S Jamal Adams
Once again, the Cowboys threw their hat in the ring to acquire a top-tier safety. But after reportedly having serious conversations with the Jets about trading for Jamal Adams, the Pro Bowl safety is staying put in New York. Adams would’ve been the marquee safety the Cowboys have been coveting for nearly two years. The team had talks with the Seahawks about landing Earl Thomas, who eventually signed with the Ravens last spring in free agency.
