ART ECKMAN (1942-2023)

We are sad to report of the passing of Art Eckman, the longtime television host of Monster Energy Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross, as well as the weekly Moto World show, and countless other sporting events, near his home in Georgia. He was 81 years old.

For an entire generation of motorsports viewers Eckman was the voice of supercross and motocross. Teamed with AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame rider David Bailey in the TV booth, Eckman's voice became synonymous with two-wheeled motorsports. He highly respected in and around the paddock by such racing icons Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Stanton, Damon Bradshaw and Jean-Michel Bayle, and later also became a mentor for future TV analysts and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers Jeff Emig, Ricky Carmichael, Grant Langtson and James Stewart. His voice was an indelible part of the sport and will be missed.

LIQUI MOLY BETA RACING TEAM SIGNS CHRIS CANNING AS SUPPORT RIDER

Beta USA has signed Chris Canning as a support team rider. Canning will compete in the J-Day Series, as well as select Outdoor MX Nationals Races for Beta Racing. Chris has been riding since 3 years old and professionally now for 11 years. This year at Southwick Outdoor National, Canning rode to a seventh-place finish.

Overwhelming positive feedback following test rides of new Albany motocross track

There was resounding positive feedback from long-time supporters after they watched eager riders test out Albany’s new motocross track this week.

Stakeholders and supporters were invited to the still under-development Albany Motorsport Park on Wednesday for the 2.4km track’s official testing day.

It marks an important milestone for the track that has been under construction since early 2023.

It can now be further fine-tuned based on the feedback of the experienced riders who took part in testing ahead of a targeted opening date in May, once construction of a new Albany Motorcycle Club clubhouse has been completed.
