I don't know if you're lurking or not, but when you read this, take the opportunity to tell me a little bit about yourself.

Me? I'm older, been around. Have a real life, but channel many of my addictions through the interwebz. Always have, since there's been connectivity. Been involved since PcJr, and collect machines. Have a literal museum of them.

TK. This is my home. Where I post. I belong here, and am a part of it. Sometimes for better sometimes for worse, always because it is where I most feel at home on the web.

So I'm interested in you, if you're interested in posting here. We have a LOT to offer, and not in the way you'd expect. But there are a fuckload of wonderful folks that post here regularly.

No problem. I'm 40. White. Married (15 yrs) I have two sons 16 and 3. I live in San Diego CA. I'm a general contractor. I live in a non-descript house in a regular neighborhood. I drive plain late model car/truck. Used not new but not too old. I don't believe in god, but I don't call myself an atheist because I don't care. I drink. I smoke the most expensive cigars I can afford on the day I go to the cigar shop. And I like a little porn from time to time but nothing too interesting. Basically nobody special.

I founded the structure of the folks who fly the same colors as I do but was disassociated with the group for some ten years due to some internal political issues. After that I spent some time trying to be a bad guy in RL which worked out about the way you might imagine. Now I just work to give my kids the life I should have had if I'd been smart enough to get my shit together early(which I didn't). I have some tattoos, could stand to lose a few pounds, don't make as much money as I'd like to and love me some death metal.

I don't really buy the threat that personal info sets you up for some shadowy horror to befall should you say too much. My real name is posted publically in my forum. I guess if anyone decided to stop by, I'd kick their ass if they're a prick or pour some drinks if they're cool. Im just not that interesting.

That's about the long and short of it.

I have no issues with names, I've used mine since the beginning. What are you, if not your name?

All this bullshit about internet privacy and who can reach out an touch you lends itself into the internet tough guy persona. Persona's are interesting, because they kind of lock you into a form of behavior (for some reason I have yet to comprehend)

My persona is fairly consistent. When folks like the people who showed up here with you show up, we sort of hold our collective noses and laugh. Whatever you've heard about TK, we aren't really about that. at least not these days.

Still it would be fun to organize an occasional expedition. I've grown old and complacent :sigh:

All jokes aside and for the record, if your profile is accurate we're pretty similar, right down to getting shit together or lack thereof. I also don't particularly fear personal info leading to some sort of cyber identity theft or stalker activity; good luck getting credit with MY name.
In answer to your question in another thread, I was raised with the credo "no identifying features." So while I have occasionally entertained the idea of ink, I can't ever figure out one I'd like well enough to have permanently there, or that I think will still be cool when I'm sixty. So, no.

You do seem cut from different cloth than frick and frack. We'll see if that's a put-on. Meanwhile, welcome to TK. It ain't what you thought it was...

Believe me, more then once I've donned long sleeves to get the job done. Im not too proud to admit it.

So how did this place come to be called Troll Kingdom anyway? Seems kind of specific.

We also pride ourselves on being who we say we are. Most of us anyway. I'm a builder. Not away team per say.

There was some...unpleasantness...with several billy goats, a bridge and an awful lot of tequila years ago. People held grudges. Other people held the negatives. You know how it is...

Funny how tequila is always measured in 'awful lot'. Yeah I guess I do.

It was before my time, but the original TKers (many of which still post here) were pariahs of the original TrekBBs bboard. Big fight over Vulcan costume fabric or somesuch and they were booted out of their favorite board for daring to want to do something besides discuss Tribble penii.

Miss Manners has been exemplary in creating this niche. It's quite a story, actually.

point one: I was being deliberately silly, but if this story is true I can't match that.

point two: does this mean missmanners is currently in charge of the jack account?

Wow. We really seem pathetic when you put it like that. Looking back on it, I guess we were. :D
