Yes, the "left" has lost its way.

"Left" used to be about sexual liberation, now it's about pressing harder punishments for mentally ill sex offenders.

"Left" used to be about technological and social progress, "Communism = Soviet Power + The Electrification Of The Entire Country", now it's treehugging and opposing every sensible energy source constructed over the last one hundred years.

"Left" used to be anti-religious, pro-science, now it's defeatist, "multi-cultural", "respect-all-opinions" appeasing trash.

"Left" used to be about freeing the working class, now it's about buying unbleached toilet paper, claiming men as the root of all evil and arguing that dolphins are smarter than humans.

The first statement about mentally ill sex offenders is a loaded topic that could easily be used to turn someone's arguement (for either side) against him/her.

edit:

"Left" is a subjective term so it can mean anything you want it to mean.
 
Armalyte has a unique perspective on what the "left" means, being a Swedish Communist and all. I'm not sure what "left" means there, opposed to in the US, but his thoughts seem to mirror what's going on here, somewhat.

You are clearly an idiot with that statement. Odd that every country which had ever been run by a right-wing government has done very well. This resulted in many leftist states getting together to destroy those same right-wing governments to ensure their brand of government does not spread further.

You've already proven beyond a shadow of a doubt at TrollValhalla that you have no clue what "right" or "left" means in regards to historical dictatorships.

You simply assign your favorite to whichever fancy suits you and then quote other opinion-speakers to back you up. History means nothing when it comes to the fantasies of Luci.

You are a liar. We had no such debate and never did I leave TV for 6 weeks. I left for a bit because you had me banned remember? You kept whining about how I would say this and that. Even Troll Kingdom has never completely banned me. Troll Valhalla has, thanks to you.

Aren't you the idiot who thinks the Nazis were 'left-wing'? I clearly tore you apart on that one, whilst killing myself laughing in the background. Only a complete fool thinks the Nazis were left-wing. I also recall you joined THUGGIE in proclaiming that Nazism was NOT a form of fascism, when in fact it most certainly is. It is an even more extreme form of fascism than Mussolini's own authoritarian regime was. You and your boyfriend THUGGIE claimed otherwise.
