My father died yesterday

We're not pretending to give a shit about his death, if you noticed most of our replies were directed towards Menty's wellbeing.

I think I know that feeling. My grandfather passed away when I was eight or so - he had divorced my grandmother when my father was three and never looked back - but other than a vague sense of loss, I never felt actual grief for a man I'd never met and heard nothing about. Hope you don't end up feeling guilty for not feeling horrible.

I don't think I'm being cold. When my stepfather was diagnosed with emphysema last year I was very upset. But then he did have a hand in actually raising me.

Since I dont know my biological parents I know I wouldnt have the same reaction to learning of one of them dying as I would to the death of my adoptive or foster parents. However, I would feel regret that now the opportunity to ever know them is gone.

And 44 is very young. Did he leave a wife? Other children?

This feeling is exactly what scares the fuck out of me when I don't hear from my dad at the usual time every morning.

I'm screwed when my parents die or get sick. I am the only one of all of my friends whose parents are relatively healthy and/or still alive and have never had any serious, life threatening health issues.

If you consider a "friend" anyone who gives you a pat on the arse, then you are in deep shit, and will mostly be a lamb among wolves in a society where only the fittest survive. But you needn't worry about society, when you can make "friends" behind your monitor.

I gave my opinion about the creatures in this thread with a pretense that they share your pain, and give you "condolences". You may spare me your internet bravado "get a life faget lol !" attitude and at least communicate your discontent with my post in a less shitty manner.

He did not seem devastated, and happened to mention that he was not emotionally attached to the deceased mister. Which means that all your bullshit replies are petty theatrics.
