Angel: After The Fall is nowhere near as good as Buffy season 8

I want to smell dark matter
Too many characters (Gwen, Kate AND Nina? Who cares!), plot too drawn out, obivously little Whedon involvement. I won't be buying the trade paperbacks.

I agree, actually. Convoluted, messy & largely unable to hold my attention as much as Buffy.

The scope for storylines it too narrow. I do like the dragon and the psychic fish and the idea of Gunn being a vampire is good, but he's mostly just been standing about saying "I've got a plan."

Plus the boring superfluous Wesley bits.

HE HAS SOME VAGUE PURPOSE, MAYBE.

So vague, that all the parts with him in are dull. And vague. But largely dull. And podgy. But dull.

But since it's not called "Angel season 6" it's non-canon and we can ignore it and imagine they all died in that alley anyway.

What's happened with Ilyria and Spike?

It's not as good as Buffy season 8, no (the lack of Dawn in various states of nudity might be a factor in this), but some of it is pretty cool.

It's just they all stand around talking about some really cool thing that they might do but instead of actually doing it they stand around and talk about it a bit more, is SOMETHING WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN in it then it would be good.

And they need to teach people how to draw David Boreanaz.

They're in LA which is now in Hell, with everyone else. Illyria reverts into Fred with no explanation now. Apparently that was going to happen on the show too.

Well, she did it that one time when Fred's parents showed up, and then for Wesley when he was dying.

And yeah, that cover is fucking horrific.

Spike is just hanging about with hot chicks. And really, that's it.

We never found out if Buffy knew Spike came back to life.

I don't think she ever did.

She had to have known...when Andrew showed up in the s5 episode, and then when they went to Italy?? to fight that one guy that you never saw.

But that wasn't Buffy in Italy.

That episode was so shit that it's been retconned out of existence (Buffy wasn't really going out with the Immortal, it was her decoy. Andrew wasn't on a date with those girls because he's gay but we can't actually say he's gay for some reason.)

LoL...still, I have to think Andrew told her in the ep where Spike got his arms cut off.

"The Girl In Question" is a fantastic episode and I wont hear a bad word said against it!!

The only bad thing about it is how awesome it could have been.
