Lame and unnecessary. Also confuses the new movie franchise.
You can't have Batman without Wayne in the suit. He's Batman because he was driven to become Batman by tragedy. Anyone else wearing the suit is just punching a clock. If they try to "strike fear" in a villain, it's an act, a fraud, because they don't have Wayne's motivations.
I've grown tired of comic creators throwing the kitchen sink into the works like this too often. They're trying to sell books but they're really hurting themselves. I have no interest in a substitute Batman.
Cyclops was never a favorite, but he rounded out the ensemble --especially in the comic: the uptight leader with the weight of the world on his shoulders, who turns into the walking wounded after the death of the one person, the one thing that brought him joy. Turniing him into so much cannon fodder in the the third film was a huge wasted opportunity.
The actor wasn't available for long (same with Paquin) and they wouldn't change the release date of the movie despite it changing directors twice...it's no wonder it turned out shite.
Maybe if they sell teh franchise back to marvel so they can tie in the characters with the avengers stuff, bring Spiderman and the FF back into the fold too.
The stories are so much better when characters can dip in and out of each others movies.
Of course if DC and marvel end up merging, this could get even more common.
