Hehe...
So, I'm searching for "dot the eye" on google (no, nothing like that - I was just trying to explain to a friend what the process looks like, seriously!) and what do I come across?

A consultancy company.

If they weren't in the UK, I would've said Volpone had something to do with this...

Fucking consultants. The bain of public funding. Labour pisses billions a year up the wall on the leaches.

Hey.

You're a fucking consultant aren't you?

I work in the Public sector, and my dealings with them have been nothing other than negative. I'm sure they bring something to some businesses, but all I've seen is them waste public funding when unleased on the Civil Service.

Labour spent £7b on consultants in the defence sector last tax year. Where's the justification in that?

Not yet. Will hopefully give it a try VERY shortly. I'd prefer investment banking, but ya know...

Yeah, no idea why the public sector hires them.

You're kidding, right? £7bn on consulting? What did they spend on actual defence? 40p?

Not the time to be be considering a career in investment banking :D

I work on a daily basis with very large global multinationals. The bodies truly are hitting the floor. We've more or less lost one of them over the weekend - 25,000 employees.

Well, people are still getting hired.
Not at the bulge brackets, I'm guessing but a friend just started today. It's just an internship but eh. By the time I'm done with my studies, maybe. Still, life sucks. :(

I suppose they'll always be jobs in the States.

A bit different here, when you've seen over a dozen shops go and not replaced in your sleepy home town's High Street over the last 18 months. The sole traders are feeling the pinch all the more.

Oh, and if you're still studying, you're probably still young and have your whole life ahead of you. Add 10 years of working, and the cynicsm you'll be feeling by the end of that will tell you how much it doesn't suck when you're still at school & Uni!

Was in Europe but not London so don't really know. My life right now definitely doesn't suck. Parents are paying all of the bills and working completely stable jobs so basically nothing to worry about. It's just the near-term economic prospects for myself that aren't looking too peachy. Then again, won't start working full time for another two years so I should be fine. Should.
