mmmm, it's strawberry time. The freeze last night and the night before have all the strawberry farmers and pickers out furiously harvesting the crops. They are delicious, but you have to wash the Mexican pee off them.
I think I must have filled over thirty 2 litre Ice Cream tubs full of Strawberries from my allotment this summer. I still have tons frozen, after giving stacks aways to people. I also have 4 apple, blackberry & strawberry crumbles frozen after being made fresh this summer. I like fruit too much.
Kinda. Basically it's flour & sugar mixed with butter and rubbed together until it resembles breadcrumbs. Mostly crumbly (naturally), but if you put some brown sugar over it before baking, it adds some crunch.
Sorry curiousa2z.. we always have fresh strawberries at the end of January and through February. I think it's too hot and rainy here in the summer to grow them, and they mold. It's always a race to pick them before a freeze kills them. The Strawberry Festival starts Feb 26th!
